Sunrise Fire-Rescue offers a variety of programs and educational materials for residents of all ages. The department's offerings include:
CPR Classes The American Heart Association course, "CPR for Family and Friends," is taught by certified CPR instructors and is free of charge to Sunrise residents. Non-residents may participate for $15.
The class is offered on the fourth Wednesday of each month from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Call (954) 746-3400 in advance to register. Proof of City residency will be checked - and fees, if applicable, will be collected - on the evening of the course.
Fire Prevention Week Each year during the month of October, firefighters visit every elementary school and day care center in Sunrise to deliver fire prevention and safety programs to some of the City's youngest residents.
Sparky the Fire Dog
In conjunction with Fire Prevention Week, held during the week of October 8th each year, the Fire-Rescue Department focuses on fire safety skills that will help reduce injuries and deaths to children - often one of the most vulnerable groups. The program's popular National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) curriculum features visits from Sparky the Fire Dog, the NFPA mascot.
"After the Fire" Prepared by the Federal Emergency Management Agency's United States Fire Administration, "After the Fire" is a comprehensive document designed to assist fire victims. It provides information on recovering from a fire, including such topics as what to do during the first 24 hours, insurance considerations, valuing your property, replacing valuable documents, salvage hints, fire department operations, and more.
