Fire-Rescue Vehicles

Over the past five years alone, the City of Sunrise has spent $3.5+ million on fire-rescue vehicles. Today, Sunrise has the most modern fleet of state-of-the-art fire-rescue equipment in Broward County.

Rescue Unit
Responds to: Any paramedic calls for injury or illness; Also assists at any fire related incidents
Staffed by: State-certified paramedics, one of whom is a Rescue Lieutenant
Equipped with: State-of-the-art medical equipment and medications
Housed at: Each Fire Station, with five additional units in reserve

Aerial Platform Truck
with 100-foot ladder
Responds to: All fire alarms; Structure fires; Persons trapped or injured above the first floor; Technical rescue calls
Staffed by: Specially-trained personnel, including a Driver Operator and Fire Officer who are also trained as Special Operations Team members
Equipped with: Special hand and power tools; Specialized firefighting nozzles; Ground ladders; Elevated victim rescue equipment
Housed at: Fire Station #59, located at 8330 NW 27 Place; an aerial platform truck with a 65-foot ladder is in reserve at Fire Station #92, located at 13721 NW 21 Street

Fire Pumper
Responds to: All fire-related calls; Can assist / provide paramedic care as needed on any medical calls
Staffed by: Specially-trained personnel, including a Fire Officer, Driver-Operator and Firefighter, at least one of whom is a trained, State-certified paramedic
Equipped with: Hoses; Nozzles; Water; Ground ladders; Firefighting tools; Saws; Fans; Generators; Medical Equipment; Extrication tools, including Hurst tools (Jaws of Life) and pneumatic lift bags
Housed at: Each Fire Station, with three additional units in reserve

Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) Unit
Responds to: Hazardous materials calls
Staffed by: A specialty unit, including trained Hazardous Materials technicians
Equipped with: Atmospheric monitoring equipment; Computer databases; Specialized tools and equipment, including protective chemical suits. The Unit's cutting-edge GasID and HazMatID instruments - utilized by fewer than 30 emergency response teams nationwide - can instantly identify potentially hazardous vapors, gases, solids, liquids and powders.

Air & Light Vehicle
Responds to: Fire calls; Special operations calls involving confined space, trench and elevated victim responses; Dive incidents;
Incidents after dark; Incidents where Firefighters may need medical attention and/or a replenished air supply
Staffed by: Specially-trained personnel
Equipped with: Air supply replenishment; Large generator; High-pressure air compressor; Misting fan; Tools, equipment and supplies to supplement existing equipment
Housed at: Fire Station #92, located at 13721 NW 21 Street

Mobile Command Vehicle (MCV)
Responds to: Incidents of long duration, such as major fires, SWAT, etc.; Incidents requiring a strong command presence
Staffed by: Fire-Rescue and/or Police Personnel
Equipped with: Communication center; Telescoping 360-degree camera with recording capability; Weather station; Private command room; Generator
