Amenities

Sunrise offers the choices and convenience that people value most. The City's excellent array of amenities includes:

Restaurants. Few other communities in South Florida offer corporate citizens the number of dining options found in Sunrise.  More importantly, many Sunrise-area restaurants provide a business-appropriate atmosphere.

Upscale eateries include Grand Lux Café, Legal Sea Foods and J. Alexander's. For casual, full-service dining, there's The Cheesecake Factory, Rainforest Café, Outback Steakhouse, Bahama Breeze and T.G.I. Friday's.

Hotels. Sunrise-area hotels and resorts offer corporations and visitors more than 3,000 hotel rooms and 250,000 square feet of meeting space. There are 13 hotels either within or nearby the City, including the luxurious Crowne Plaza at Sawgrass.

Entertainment. Sunrise is the site of the BankAtlantic Center, a 20,000+-seat, $225 million multi-purpose venue adjacent to the Sawgrass Expressway. Rivaled in size only by Chicago's United Center, this arena is the home of the National Hockey League's Florida Panthers - and was the site of the 2003 NHL All-Star Game and Weekend. The BankAtlantic Center is also the setting for major concert performances and entertainment events. Since opening in 1998, the Center has hosted such stars as Celine Dion, Andrea Bocelli, the Rolling Stones, Cher, the Bee Gees, Madonna, Billy Joel, the Eagles, Paul McCartney and Elton John. In addition, the City operates the Sunrise Civic Center complex, which features an intimate, 300-seat theatre, an amphitheatre and an art gallery.

Shopping. Sunrise is synonymous with great retail, thanks in large part to Sawgrass Mills Mall. This 2.7-million-square-foot shopping mecca welcomes more than 25 million visitors each year, making it the state's second-biggest tourist attraction after Disney World. In addition to Sawgrass Mills and its surrounding specialty retailers, there are three regional malls within a 10-minute drive of Sunrise.

Education. The City of Sunrise provides excellent education opportunities for children: Eight of our ten public schools (comprised of seven elementary schools, two middle schools and one high school) have earned an "A" rating on the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT).

Sunrise is located near top-rated institutions of higher learning, including Nova Southeastern University and Florida Atlantic University. In addition, the campuses of Florida International University, the University of Miami and St. Thomas University are an easy commute.

Housing. Sunrise offers a broad range of housing options, from private, gated golf course communities to rental properties. Nearby cities, including Weston, Plantation and Coral Springs, also contribute to the area's attractive housing market.
