Sunrise City Commission
Your Sunrise City Commission (L to R): Commissioner Joseph Scuotto,
Assistant Deputy Mayor Donald Rosen, Mayor Steven Feren, Deputy Mayor
Roger Wishner, and Commissioner Sheila Alu
City Commission

The City of Sunrise operates under a Commission/Manager form of government, led by a Mayor and four City Commissioners who are elected to four-year terms on a non-partisan basis. In March of each year, one Commissioner is selected to serve as Deputy Mayor, while another is chosen as Assistant Deputy Mayor. It is the Commission's responsibility to set policy, establish laws and adopt the City's budget. The Commission-appointed City Manager oversees the day-to-day operations of Sunrise.

The Mayor and Commission strive to represent the best interests of Sunrise - continually seeking ways to better meet the expectations of the citizens they serve. Since fiscal year 1995-1996, the Sunrise Commission has reduced residents' property tax millage rate - a 13-year track record no other South Florida city can match. However, the City's budget still allows for a full complement of services - providing for the safety and well being of residents, and supporting the excellent quality of life for which Sunrise is known.

The City of Sunrise is represented by Mayor Steven B. Feren, Deputy Mayor Roger B. Wishner, Assistant Deputy Mayor Donald K. Rosen , Commissioner Sheila D. Alu, and Commissioner Joseph A. Scuotto.
