The annual hurricane season begins June 1 and ends November 30, with intense storms more likely to make landfall in Florida between August and October. However – despite advances in technology and forecasting – hurricane season is still highly unpredictable.
 
Local officials and relief workers will be on the scene after a disaster, but cannot always reach everyone right away. The best way to make sure you and your family remain safe is to be prepared before disaster strikes.

New this year: Home Damage Assessment Program
Broward County has introduced a program that enables residents to report the severity of hurricane damage to their home. This new system will help quickly identify areas in most need of assistance.
