2016 Household Hazardous Waste Events
The City of Sunrise and the City of Plantation have partnered to provide residents with opportunities to safely dispose of household hazardous waste (HHW) and electronics. Drop-off events are held on Saturdays throughout the year, and are open exclusively to residents of Sunrise and Plantation free of charge and with proof of residency. Dates and locations for 2016 are:
City of Sunrise

City of Plantation
Public Works Compound
750 NW 91st Avenue
9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
The following items will be accepted in Sunrise and Plantation:
Automobile Batteries and Fluids
Boat Batteries and Fluids
Compact Fluorescent Bulbs (CFLs)
Fluorescent Light Bulbs and Tubes
Keyboards and Mice
Nail Polish Remover
Telephones and Cell Phones
Tires (limit four)
Wood Stains and Stripper
You may also bring up to two file boxes of personal documents per household for on-site shredding at the January 23, April 16, July 23, and October 22 events in Sunrise. DO NOT bring explosives, biohazardous waste or business-generated waste. For more information, call (954) 577-1135.
HHW Drop Off at Wheelabrator
In addition to participating in the collection events listed above, Sunrise residents may dispose of HHW at Wheelabrator’s Davie facility (4400 South State Road 7, Davie 33314) on one Saturday each month from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Dates in 2016 are as follows:

Medication/Prescription Drug Collection Program
Medicines should be disposed of properly like other household hazardous waste. Bring all unused prescriptions and over-the-counter medications (including vitamins) to the Sunrise Public Safety Building (10440 West Oakland Park Boulevard) for safe and anonymous disposal in the drop box in the first floor lobby.

• Illegal drugs
• Bio-hazardous waste
The drop box is accessible during the building’s regular operating hours, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
