Effective October 1, 2013, the Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Program operated by the Broward County Resource Recovery System has been discontinued. In its place, the City of Sunrise has established a partnership with Wheelabrator Environmental Systems, Inc. to bring quarterly HHW and electronics recycling collection events to the residents of Sunrise.
Household Hazardous Waste Event Set for January 11, 2014
Electronics Recycling and Document Shredding Also Available
The City will host a Household Hazardous Waste Drop-Off event exclusively for Sunrise residents on Saturday, January 11, 2014, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at City Hall (10770 West Oakland Park Boulevard, 33351). Start fresh in the New Year by ridding your home of unwanted electronics, documents, chemicals and more! The following items will be accepted:
Automobile Batteries and Fluids
Boat Batteries and Fluids
Compact Fluorescent Bulbs (CFLs)
Fluorescent Light Bulbs and Tubes
Nail Polish Remover
Tires (limit four)
Wood Stains and Stripper
You may also bring up to two file boxes of personal documents per household for on-site shredding. DO NOT bring explosives, biohazardous waste or business-generated waste. Proof of Sunrise residency is required. For more information, call (954) 577-1135.
