The City of Sunrise Home Rule Charter provides the basic framework for our City government. At the direction of the Sunrise City Commission, beginning in 2009, a board convenes every 10 years to review the Home Rule Charter and to determine if changes should be made to any portion of the document.
The City’s five-member Charter Review Board was seated in May 2019 and will deliver their findings to the Sunrise City Commission in January 2020. The Board is seeking community input at a public hearing scheduled for Thursday, October 24, at 6:00 p.m. in the City Commission Chambers on the first floor of Sunrise City Hall (10770 West Oakland Park Boulevard).
The City of Sunrise Home Rule Charter may be viewed online, and is also available from the Office of the City Clerk (10770 West Oakland Park Boulevard; 954-746-3333).
