Public Notice: Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program FY 2018 Local Solicitation
Posted Date: 8/7/2018
The Sunrise Police Department is accepting public comment and input from local residents regarding the 2018 Edward Byrne Justice Assistance Local Solicitation Grant (JAG) program. The JAG funding opportunity is a formal grant that awards money to cities and municipalities based on crime statistics and population. The grant funds are allocated by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and administered by the City of Pompano Beach for dispersal through the county.

JAG funds may be utilized to create or enhance a variety of law enforcement programs and activities. The Sunrise Police Department's recommendation is to fund law enforcement activities through the use of overtime for community oriented policing operations. The Department plans to use overtime funding from this grant to create partnerships and address neighborhood problems through the use of statistical analysis and our Department’s S.A.R.A (Scanning, Analysis, Response and Assessment) problem solving model. Since 1988, the Sunrise Police Department has utilized funding awarded from Block Grants to subsidize expenses related to community policing activities.

Anyone with questions or comments concerning the planned expenditures of these grant funds may contact:
