The Finance & Administrative Services Department provides critical financial and managerial support to City operations, administration, and the City Commission. The department's goal is to provide quality internal and external financial services to the City of Sunrise by exercising sound financial leadership, planning and guidance; recommending, establishing and maintaining sound fiscal policies and practices; and offering adequate financial control and flexibility.
The Finance & Administrative Services Department embraces innovative approaches to deliver quality services to all of our constituents. The department's personnel and divisions provide a wide variety of services, including:
The department maintains accounting records - including the accounting system, accounts payable, payroll, accounts receivable - and prepares the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report and the Popular Annual Financial Report.
The department develops and prepares the City's Annual Budget and Five-Year Capital Improvement Program, administers budget transfers, and monitors the City's financial performance.
The department conducts research and analyses, and makes recommendations regarding policy formulations, operational planning and program evaluation.
The department competitively secures goods and services for the City using effective, efficient and economical purchasing methods.
The department handles matters concerning property insurance, City liability and employee safety.
The department manages cash flow, daily banking activities, cashiering and revenue collection, investments, and debt administration.
The department handles the collection of water and wastewater revenues, as well as provides courteous and efficient customer service.
