Arts
Sunrise prides itself on offering a wide range of cultural programs. The Civic Center Theatre hosts live music, dance, drama, children’s productions and more, while the Art Gallery showcases local artists and traveling exhibitions.

Block Parties

Bulk Trash
Sunrise provides citywide residential bulk trash pick-up each month. A collection schedule is posted in the Sanitation section of the City’s Web site, www.sunrisefl.gov. To talk with a customer service representative, call (954) 746-3232.

Business Tax Receipts
This unit – a division of the Sunrise Police Department – is responsible for issuing Business Tax Receipts (formerly known as Occupational Licenses) to Sunrise-based businesses. For information, call (954) 572-2352.

Camps
Sunrise Leisure Services offers an eight-week summer camp program, as well as holiday mini-camps and kids’ day off sessions. Call 954-747-4600 for registration information.

Catering
The ARC Culinary Institute is the official caterer of the Grand Ballroom at the Sunrise Civic Center – the City’s banquet hall. This partnership enables the Institute to host large and small events, from business meetings to weddings, in a unique and elegant venue. Central Services
The Central Services Department’s primary responsibility is to provide internal support for City departments and operations. Central Services is comprised of five divisions: the Management & Budget Office, Purchasing, Risk Management, Facilities Management, and Marketing & Communications.

Purchasing Division
Purchasing coordinates the acquisition of commodities and services required by the City. They maintain vendor information and work with City departments to develop bid packages, as well as requests for qualifications, proposals and quotations.

Risk Management handles matters concerning property insurance, City liability and employee safety.

Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)
The City’s Office of Emergency Management offers free basic training in disaster survival and rescue skills as part of its CERT program. Once trained, a CERT member will be able to increase their family’s – and their neighborhood’s – disaster readiness; assess damage and communicate it to the proper authorities; perform light search and rescue; and assist the injured. CITY CLERK 
The City Clerk’s Office serves as the local Supervisor of Elections, as well as the City’s records custodian. The City Clerk also responds to lien inquiries and records requests.

CITY COMMISSION 
The Commission is comprised of five elected officials: Mayor Michael J. Ryan, Deputy Mayor Neil C. Kerch, Assistant Deputy Mayor Lawrence A. Sofield, Commissioner Mark A. Douglas, and Commissioner Joseph A. Scuotto. It is their responsibility to set policy, establish laws and adopt the City’s budget.

CODE ENFORCEMENT 
Code Enforcement – a division of the Sunrise Police Department – is responsible for the enforcement of City codes and ordinances designed to protect the well being of the community and maintain quality standards.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

Building Division 
Enforces the Florida Building Code. Reviews all construction plans, inspects all aspects of construction, collects permit fees and issues building-related permits, and issues Certificates of Occupancy.

Planning Division 
Manages the planning functions necessary to meet the City’s short- and long-term development goals.

Engineering Division 
Responsible for design review, permitting and inspection of all public and private infrastructure elements within the City. Also manages the Neighborhood Traffic Calming Program and other community-based initiatives.

Responsible for the construction of capital improvement projects for the City of Sunrise.

Family Central at Roarke Hall 
In partnership with the City of Sunrise, local not-for-profit agency Family Central, Inc. has transformed Roarke Hall into a resource, referral and training center. Family Central at Roarke Hall offers a wide range of services, including: child care resource and referral; social service needs assessment; community resource referrals; eligibility determination for child care; financial assistance and eligibility; documentation review (redetermination); and veteran services (Tuesdays from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. by appointment only. FIRE-RESCUE 
The Fire-Rescue Department’s trained Firefighter/Paramedics protect residents’ life and property. In addition to serving as first responders, they provide fire-prevention education to citizens of all ages.

Hurricane Preparedness
It’s never too early to prepare for the annual storm season – which runs from June 1st through November 30th. Develop a preparedness plan, safeguard your home, and be sure to have plenty of supplies on hand. If a storm approaches, listen to local news outlets for updates. Information will also be available on the City’s Web site and emergency radio station (1610 AM), and from the Broward County Call Center (954-831-4000).

PUBLIC WORKS 
The Public Works Department is instrumental in maintaining public streets, sidewalks and parking areas. Public Works also plays a key role in maintaining the system of canals, reservoirs, pumping stations and related drainage equipment within the City.

Recycling
The City provides residential recycling pick-up on a weekly basis. Sunrise residents are part of an “All-in-One”/single-stream recycling system – which means recyclable items do not need to be sorted by material. All recyclables may be placed curbside in a single bin. Most single-family homes now have 65-gallon rolling bins, and are eligible to earn recycling rewards via www.recyclebank.com. Transportation
Sunrise mini-buses operate on a regular schedule, picking up passengers in residential areas and transporting them to and from a variety of destinations - including shopping centers, libraries, the Senior Center and Sawgrass Mills. UTILITIES 
The Utilities Department is committed to supplying high-quality water that meets or exceeds federal, state and local standards. The Department is also responsible for the efficient, effective, environmentally-sound disposal of wastewater. The Sunrise utility system serves approximately 200,000 residential and commercial customers.
