On November 8, 2016 - Election Day - Broward County residents will have the opportunity to vote on two ballot questions that involve Broward County and its municipalities, including the City of Sunrise.
One question is for a half a penny (.5%) transportation sales surtax for transportation projects, including traffic signal synchronization, expanded senior mobility, and enhanced transit options, which would be implemented by the County.
The second question is for half a penny infrastructure sales surtax to fund individual city projects. Here in Sunrise
, we have proposed projects such as:
- New bicycle lanes
- Bus shelters
- Drainage improvements
- Construction of trails and multi-use paths along select roadways and corridors
- Traffic calming
- New sidewalks and the replacement of damaged sidewalks
- Resurfacing of public streets
Both ballot questions must pass for the one cent surtax to take effect. If either surtax does not receive majority voter approval, both will fail.
A website has been created to help inform voters about these two ballot questions. Learn more about the two sales surtax questions at www.APennyAtWork.com
