Veterans Day Ceremony Planned for November 11

On Wednesday, November 11, at 11:00 a.m., Sunrise will host a celebration in honor of all military veterans. Due to weather concerns, the City's Veterans Day Ceremony will now take place in the Sunrise Civic Center Theatre (10610 West Oakland Park Boulevard), rather than at Welleby Park. The event will feature a 21-gun salute, distinguished speakers and the presentation of colors. Light refreshments will be served.

This event also provides community members with an opportunity to support active U.S. military service personnel. After the ceremony, please take a moment to write a note and help prepare a care package for our troops overseas. Donations for these care packages - items such as pre-packaged snack foods, individual packets of Gatorade mix, non-chocolate candy, personal hygiene products and current magazines - are appreciated. Items for care packages will also be collected at the Sunrise Senior Center. For more information, call (954)746-3670.
