The Building & Code Enforcement Department

The Building Department is the City agency that enforces the Florida Building Code. The Department's responsibilities include:
Bullet Reviewing all plans for new and miscellaneous construction, including improvements and additions
Bullet Inspecting all aspects of all construction at progressive stages
Bullet Collecting permit fees and issuing permits for all categories associated with building
Bullet Issuing Certificates of Occupancy

The City's Code Enforcement Division is responsible for:
Bullet Issuing Business Tax Receipts and conducting inspections of businesses for proper licensing
Bullet Inspecting and monitoring commercial properties for compliance with sanitation, sign and
   landscaping, and other City codes
Bullet Inspecting and monitoring all other properties for compliance with City codes
Bullet Investigating complaints and ensuring correction of violations by property owners
Bullet Presenting cases to the Code Enforcement Special Magistrate for disposition
Bullet Issuing permits for special events within the City
