Mission Statement
The Community Development Department is to guide the development of the City through effective measures of planning, design review, construction plan approval, code compliance, and housing assistance to preserve and enhance the quality of life for the residents of the City of Sunrise.

In October 2009, the City of Sunrise consolidated two of its largest operating departments - Building and Planning & Development - to form the new Community Development Department. This reorganization was designed to increase efficiency and enhance customer service.

As part of this restructuring effort, all Community Development divisions - Building, Planning, Engineering, Capital Projects and Redevelopment & Grants Administration - are now housed together in Sunrise's City Hall Annex located the southwest corner of Sunrise Boulevard and NW 136th Avenue. This department can be located using our City Facilities map.
