ABOUT THE EXHIBIT

The Home Team is a photographic series that documents the Florida Panthers’ historic back-to-back Stanley Cup runs. The series is composed of images such as player portraits, fan experiences, and atmospheric scenes from games and celebrations. The Home Team is designed to explore imagery of sports beyond traditional documentation and is aimed at utilizing imagery to invoke the feeling of shared community that Broward County experienced during the Stanley Cup.

The Home Team aims to showcase imagery that lives beyond the moment it captures and allows viewers to relive the moments through the lens.

The series is intended to reach a broad and diverse audience, extending beyond hockey fans through communal engagement with visual storytelling. For Broward County residents, this project becomes a mirror—reflecting the unity, energy, and emotion that filled our neighborhoods during a once-in-a-generation sports dynasty. Whether you were in the arena, at a local restaurant, watching from home, or cheering in the streets at the victory parade, The Home Team brings the community and the shared experience back to the forefront.

ABOUT THEARTIST

Lauren Sopourn is a professional sports photographer who defines her practice as that of a moment historian, documenting both the intensity of athletic action and the in-between spaces that surround it. While her work captures the speed and spectacle of competition, her distinctive focus lies in the quieter moments often overlooked in traditional sports coverage. Through this dual approach, Sopourn creates imagery that invites viewers to live and relive each moment.

Sopourn began her career while studying at Florida Atlantic University, photographing for the university newspaper before being recruited by the university athletics department, an opportunity that opened the door to being invited to join the Miami Dolphins. Sopourn is now entering her eighth NFL season as a freelance photographer with the Dolphins, covering games and team events.

Currently in her fourth season with the Florida Panthers, Sopourn has documented some of the franchise’s most historic chapters, including multiple Stanley Cup Finals. Sopourn’s imagery is a familiar presence across the Panthers most visible spaces; her photographs appear in arena installations, campaigns, and digital platforms.

As an entrepreneur, Sopourn has built her business, Sports & Media Nation, through strategic vision, relationship development, and creative execution. The enterprise is dedicated to creating meaningful professional opportunities for women in an industry that remains predominantly male. As part of this commitment, Sopourn mentors one emerging female photographer each year, providing individualized portfolio guidance, industry insight, and sustained career support.

Her professional achievements reflect both excellence and innovation. Sopourn is a three-time Pro Football Hall of Fame Photography Award winner, a World Sports Photography Awards Special Merit recipient in 2022, and a finalist in 2023 and 2026. A 2025–2026 Broward Cultural Division grant recipient for her photography series The Home Team, which documents the Florida Panthers’ Stanley Cup victories. Most recently, in December 2025, she was honored as the WISE South Florida Emerging Professional of the Year.

Sopourn’s work has appeared across billboards, printed publications, promotional campaigns, arena and stadium beautification, digital advertising, and was featured on the cover of Fort Lauderdale Magazine in August 2025.
