Veterans park bricksOverview: This important memorial honors the courageous veterans from all branches of the United States military who so honorably defend the freedoms that we enjoy. Reserved parking spaces exclusively for combat-wounded veterans are available.  From the entrance, visitors are welcomed into a central plaza distinguished by an elevated Memorial Monument inscribed with "Duty, Honor, Country" and featuring flags for each military service branch. The surrounding plaza features a central star inlaid at the base and surrounded by custom Memorial Bricks honoring veterans, a memorial bench, and an adjacent meditation labyrinth intended as a space for reflection. Paved walking paths and beautiful landscaping connect the Memorial plaza to park features such as monuments to each branch of the military, a remembrance pavilion, a new restroom facility and a boundless playground that includes a zip line, swings, and an impressive variety of spinning, climbing, and sliding play implements. The opening of Veterans Park was made possible by voter support of the City's 2014 general obligation (GO) bond referendum - which continues to fund improvements to parks and recreation facilities in neighborhoods citywide.

Our community can honor a military veteran through the Veterans Park Memorial Brick Program by having a memorial brick engraved with a personalized message and installed at Veterans Park. This program not only provides an affordable and lasting method to commemorate a special military veteran, but additional proceeds will be used to assist Sunrise families in need through the Leisure Services Emergency Assistance Fund (EAF). For more information, visit the link above or call the Leisure Services Department at (954) 747-4600.

The Veterans Advisory Board compiled resources regarding health, education, job assistance, and other available services into the Veterans Resource Guide.
