Commissioner Guzman Selected By Women of Tomorrow as a Mentor at Piper High School

The Women of Tomorrow Mentor & Scholarship Program inspires, motivates and empowers at-risk young women to live up to their full potential

The City of Sunrise, Florida along with Women of Tomorrow together announce that Commissioner Jacqueline A. Guzman has been selected as a mentor to Piper High School students during the 2024-2025 school year. The Women of Tomorrow Mentor & Scholarship Program is designed to inspire, motivate and empower at-risk young women to live up to their full potential while being mentored by highly accomplished professionals in their community.

Women of Tomorrow Mentor and Scholarship Program“For over 27 years, we have paired professional and highly accomplished women with our mentees to teach them critical life skills through mentoring sessions,” remarked Jennifer Valoppi, Founder and President of Women of Tomorrow. “These women are from all areas of the workforce, entrepreneurship and business world. By imparting their experience, they inspire, motivate, and empower the next generation of women. We are pleased to welcome Commissioner Guzman to the long list of mentors who have made a lasting impact on the futures of female students in South Florida.”

The mentoring group of 9th to 12th grade students at Piper High School will not only learn from mentors like Commissioner Guzman, but from each other as well. This happens through mentoring sessions, college campus visits, career-focused field trips and college scholarship opportunities.

As a mother and child advocate, I'm passionate about empowering young women and providing opportunities for growth,” said Commission Jacqueline A. Guzman, who has served on the Sunrise Commission since 2020. “I'm grateful for this chance to make a positive impact and inspire the next generation of leaders. I'm especially looking forward to working with Principal Hautigan and the Piper High School community to help these talented students thrive!”

Women of Tomorrow partners with public schools for the benefit of at-risk girls facing a variety of challenges. Founded in 1997 by television journalist and author Jennifer Valoppi and Don Browne, former Telemundo and NBC President, the organization has touched the lives of more than 25,000 high school girls in South Florida, Metro Detroit and Greater Philadelphia. Student participants in this program have a 98% graduation rate and have been awarded more than $8.5 million in college scholarships since the program’s inception.
