The City of Sunrise, Florida along with the Florida League of Mayors together announce that Sunrise Mayor Michael J. Ryan was recently elected to serve on the Florida League of Mayors Board of Directors.

“I am honored to work alongside Mayors from around the entire state on the issues that are so important to our residents and businesses,” said Mayor Ryan, who has served as Mayor since 2010. “We must tackle skyrocketing auto and property insurance premiums; address the impact of the new condominium reserve law; find more resources for our Veterans, especially in the area of mental and medical health; create new and innovative ways to help our small business community by cutting red-tape and regulations to help them to open economically and on time, while inspiring them to grow more jobs and be successful; and work together on the environmental impacts of flooding, sea-level rise and saltwater intrusion into our aquifers.”

Since 2005, the Florida League of Mayors has served as the official nonpartisan organization representing Florida’s mayors. As a membership-driven association that was founded and developed by mayors, the organization’s primary duty is to ensure active advocacy and provide a powerful platform for Florida’s mayors to speak out on issues of important interest to their cities and citizens.

This is an important issue for Florida’s communities, as local businesses attract people to our cities to live and shop. Mayors play a critical role in helping drive economic development in our communities.
