Transportation Services
The City operates free transportation in air-conditioned buses with wheelchair lifts that drive along routes that connect residential neighborhoods to major shopping centers, the Senior Center, and public facilities. Eligible residents aged 62 or older, as well as those with physical disabilities, can also utilize free round-trip transportation to medical and dental appointments.
The Suite Deal at Amerant Bank Arena
Through its ongoing ticket giveaway, the City of Sunrise offers its residents a chance to apply for the chance to enjoy two tickets to a concert, Florida Panthers hockey game, or other entertainment event from a suite (Club Room level) at the Amerant Bank Arena.
Youth Athletics Incentive
To encourage youth participation in sports, the City offers a financial incentive for families registering their children in recreational athletic programs. Eligible residents receive a $50 gift card to a sporting goods store for each child enrolled in a city-run sports league, helping to offset the cost of equipment and gear.
Art Gallery
Located within the Sunrise Civic Center, the Art Gallery presents traveling exhibits and works by local artists with no admission fee. Residents can visit year-round to view diverse collections of photography, painting, and sculpture, or attend free opening receptions.
Little Free Libraries
Scattered throughout city parks and public spaces, our Little Free Libraries allow residents to pick up a free book or leave one for a neighbor. This "take a book, return a book" exchange promotes literacy and community connection for all.
Household Hazardous Waste Drop-Off
In partnership with neighboring cities, Sunrise offers free drop-off events where residents can safely dispose of hazardous items like paint, electronics, and batteries. This service prevents toxic materials from entering the regular waste stream and is available exclusively to residents with proof of address.
Athletic Club Membership
Sunrise residents are eligible for a free basic membership at the Sunrise Civic Center Athletic Club, Village Multipurpose Center and the Sunrise Athletic Complex (SAC). This membership grants unlimited access to the gymnasiums for basketball and volleyball, racquetball courts, the elevated fitness track, and a game room.
Recycled Paint Program
To help improve neighborhood aesthetics, the City offers free recycled exterior paint to owners of single-family homes. Eligible residents can apply to receive up to two 5-gallon containers of base color and two 1-gallon containers of trim color once every four years.
Residential Fence Repair Incentive
Homeowners can apply for financial assistance through this program, which provides a reimbursement of up to $500 for eligible fence repairs or improvements. The incentive is designed to encourage property maintenance and help residents cover the costs of materials or contractor labor for fixing fences on their homesteaded property.
Chess Programs
Free chess programming includes weekly "Open Play" sessions at the Sunrise Athletic Complex where instructors are available to help all skill levels. Additionally, the City hosts the annual "Mayors' Chess Challenge," a free series of community meet-ups that brings residents together to play chess with elected officials and neighbors.
